Dear Parents:

Enclosed you will find a list of recommended reading for the summer months. Students will need to read at least three books this summer from the enclosed reading list as well as the book The Story of King Arthur and His Knights by Howard Pyle.

In the fall students will need to bring a reading journal and cover illustration for each of the four books as well as a copy of The Story of King Arthur and His Knights (on loan from the library is fine). Below you will find a format for the reading journal that your student should follow. The response journal should be written on binder paper

Your child will need to complete at least three journal assignments (see attached list). Students will bring their summer reading projects to Grade Seven when they return to school in the fall. Students will be asked to present at least one selection from their summer reading journals to the class. This will be the first assignment for Grade Seven! Encourage your child to read during the summer and help them get off to a good start in Seventh Grade.

Strong reading skills are essential to academic success ! Working together we can help each one of our children become excellent readers !

Sincerely,

Mrs. Sharon Owyang-Lee
Seventh Grade Teacher
