The more you read, the more things you know. The more you learn, the more places you"ll go".
Dr. Seuss
Dear Parents,
As you know, one of the most important things we can do for our children is to read aloud to them. These read aloud book experiences are wonderful parent-child sharing times, and will help your child to love books and to become a reader.
Below you will find a list of recommended books for reading to your child over the course of the summer. Many of these books are ones which we will revisit next year in Kindergarten and are simply suggestions. Choosing not to read any of the recommended books listed below is fine. However, I do encourage you to read regularly to your children. Our children's libraries are great sources of literature and I encourage you to visit them with your student. In addition, if a language other than English is the primary language spoken in your home I strongly encourage you to read aloud to your child in that language.
Working together we can help our children to become active and enthusiastic readers!
Sincerely,
Ms. Christine Mendonca
Kindergarten Teacher
